It was based on the quality of relationship among teachers and fellow students. The students were happy because their teachers were fair, understanding, empathetic, encouraging and supportive. Having lots of friends and no bullying in school also mattered. Schools prioritizing the emotional health of students produce larger numbers of happy students. This is also why they stay happy and content.
