This country is the only country in the world with a GNH or Gross National Happiness. They started measuring GNH when they have opened the country up to globalization. They want to make sure that the quality of life of the people remains high and that material and spiritual development can go side by side. Thus, they were able to maintain their cultural identity and preserve their ethical standards.
