Vanderbilt University has a total enrollee of about 12,000 from all over the United States and more than 90 countries. They are enrolled in six professional and graduate schools and four undergraduate programs. There are a number of research centers are connected with it. The university is named after Cornelius Vanderbilt, the railway and shipping tycoon. Vanderbilt provided the initial million dollar funding without even steeping into the state. He did this to heal wounds brought by the Civil War.
